The Takasaki Daruma is a traditional Japanese talisman originating in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. It symbolizes perseverance, good luck, and achieving goals. Its history dates back to the 18th century. This item is a limited-edition product designed and produced specifically for Pride Month. According to tradition, the creator of the daruma doll, Priest Togaku, studied Buddhism in Kyoto for six years. Upon returning to Takasaki, he made the first daruma as a tool for focus and motivation. The daruma doll’s rounded shape and weighted bottom allow it to return upright when tilted, representing resilience and determination. The Takasaki Daruma’s distinctive design often features a bearded face inspired by Togaku. The red color is traditionally associated with protection and good fortune. Over time, the Takasaki Daruma has become a cultural icon and a popular souvenir. It represents the determination to overcome challenges and pursue one’s goals.
